CONFERENCE PLUS+
Your National Transport Conference registration unlocks access to Conference+ Sessions - a curated program of additional experiences designed to help you go deeper, connect more meaningfully and make the most of your time at the conference.
Running alongside the main program, Conference+ Sessions extend the conversation beyond a conference room with technical tours, site visits and small‑group experiences led by industry experts and practitioners. Most sessions are free for conference attendees, with limited capacities to ensure high‑quality discussion and hands‑on learning.
Conference+ Sessions are optional, but highly recommended.
They offer a chance to tailor your conference experience, explore topics in greater depth and connect with peers around shared interests in a more informal, immersive setting.
Places are limited and registrations are required. Browse the sessions below and secure your spot once you’ve registered for the conference.

Step into one of Brisbane’s most unexpected moments of cultural history. Led by Queensland Walks and Brisbane Living Heritage, this guided walking tour examines the real‑world setting of the 1991 “Democracy Manifest” arrest through the lens of transport and urban design. What began as a police incident became enduring cultural folklore, shaped as much by place and movement networks as by people.
Walking through Fortitude Valley, the tour explores how streets, service lanes, building frontages and transport corridors create spaces of interaction, control and visibility. For transport professionals, it offers insight into how everyday movement networks and supporting infrastructure influence behaviour, public encounters, and the stories that shape our cities.

FRIDAY 11 SEPTEMBER
Walking, wheeling and enjoying Brisbane's South Bank
FRIDAY 11 SEPTEMBER 2026 | 9.45am - 11.15am
South Bank, Brisbane
South Bank is Queensland’s most visited leisure and tourism precinct, attracting approximately 16 million visitors each year. Walking is central to the South Bank experience and riding and wheeling are also popular. South Bank accommodates some of Brisbane’s busiest walking and riding routes.
As activity levels increase, so does the potential for conflict between pedestrians, cyclists, runners and users of e‑mobility devices. As the integrated precinct manager, South Bank Corporation has prioritised the safe, inclusive and efficient movement of all users. In response, a suite of coordinated initiatives has been developed, including a Walking Network Plan, Riding Network Plan, Wayfinding Strategy and Cultural Forecourt Traffic Management Guideline. These initiatives support the Master Plan’s vision for South Bank to remain Brisbane’s most lively, green and inclusive place, now and into the future.
This tour of South Bank Parklands will allow attendees to hear about the successes and growing pains of a highly walkable and rideable precinct, and invite discussion on how conflict can be mitigated and safety improved for all users and visitors of South Bank.
Registrations opening soon.
